SEEING DAYLIGHT is Ben O’Mara’s, story as he searches for hope and resiliency after being seriously injured in the war. He’s lost an arm in an IED explosion, has traumatic brain injury, and PTSD. Yes, he can walk and talk now but he’s not the champion bull rider he once was. He can’t ride a horse or do ranch chores. Even simple things are a challenge. He struggles with physical and emotional scars.
It’s his sister, Lali, who knows what will help Ben – a service dog. And so, when Ben meets Roger, a potential service dog, and his intriguing trainer, Molly, things are looking up. But his nightmares and flashbacks continue. What is he blocking from his memory and how will he deal with it when he remembers?

SEEING DAYLIGHT is not my story but that of so many returning veterans no matter what war they served in. I aspired to share their stories with the respect they deserve. And I hope if you read SEEING DAYLIGHT, that you are moved to support veterans in your community. That’s the best thanks.

Author and Iraq veteran, Caleb Cage says, “In SEEING DAYLIGHT, Suzanne Morgan Williams recreates the dissonance and brokenness that can follow veterans into the civilian world, especially for the severely wounded. She explores these difficult subjects with intense honesty and empathy and in a way that shows the courage and relationships that it takes for many to have the hope to survive.”

Trauma specialist and author Jacci Turner says, “This book has everything. A small-town romance, a tough but committed family, and a veteran’s slow recovery from PTSD and TBI. There are also dogs. Wonderful dogs. Beautifully written and deeply moving. . .”
